Carla Bauer - Deceased 2012
Carla was the epitome of beauty and grace at all times. She was so appreciative of all her friends and supporters who prayed for a positive outcome from her disease. She possessed faith in God, which never wavered. The lights may fade, but the spark of love and gratitude will shine through. Rest in peace, gentle lady. Your lessons in life will remain in our hearts forever. – Bob Ordas
Pete Calloway - Deceased 2013
Pete Calloway and I were neighbors on Weston Circle in a tract development our dads were selling for Heltzer Homes. We moved there almost the same week in 1965. For a while, Pete and I were the only kids in the street. Then, Keith Baker moved in later in 1966. Pete was small in stature and big in heart. We got into some fun trouble out there in the orchards.- Bob Ludwick
Pete had a habit of grabbing and reading notes that Maree Soncrant and I would write to each other during class. Certainly there was nothing interesting about the notes, just silly stuff to be sure. We didn’t mind because he was so cute and funny. I was sad to see his name on this list. – Karen Keigher Long
Walter Chizum - Deceased 2012
I knew Walter well from our days together at Somis School. He was a shy and reserved kid but a good friend just the same with a keen sense of humor and an infectious smile. He was completely opposite from his older brother, Rusty, who more than made up for Walter’s quiet demeanor. Before driver’s licenses and automobiles, all of us Somis and Moorpark fringe kids rode the same bus and I would normally sit with Walter both coming and going. He was very bright and loved books as well as the entire learning experience. We were lab partners in Mr. Bickford’s 11th grade chemistry class. But being the right brained person I am and if it hadn’t been for Walter’s kind and patient assistance, I would have never passed the course. I thought of Walter often over time and imagined he would end up pursuing a career as some kind of research scientist. I heard some years later that he had settled in Santa Barbara and I had always hoped to see him at one of the class reunions though it was not to be. RIP my old friend and many thanks for being the affable person you were. – Mike Gill

Lora Dearinger - Deceased 1970
Dear Lora, You were my friend when we were just little, the first person I met when we moved to Camarillo…I first saw you with your looong ponytail riding your bike down our street…we were checking each other out warily, but, from the very first moment we talked to each other, we were best friends…you were cute and funny, and courageous!! You always led the way, even though I was a little older, you were fearless!! I loved being your friend and knowing you and your family…I think about you all the time, even though it has been so many years since you I think about what you would have been like as an adult….still fearless and leading the way!! You are loved nd you are missed…but, you showed me the light one night, you showed me what Heaven is like and let me know you were okay…that I could stop worrying about you. Thank you for that. Peace, my friend..until I see you again. – Karla Grimes Walker
Susan Finfrock Stephenson - Deceased 2004
Susie had a long fight with cancer…I’m not sure what type. She and Joe Stephenson had the three children together but had divorced before her passing, although they remained friends. She left her mark on those kids; they all have her sincerity and kindness. – Mike Spahr
